2023 ASOR Annual Meeting: Virtual Component
The Virtual Component of ASOR’s 2023 Annual Meeting will be held online (October 18-21) before the meeting in Chicago (November 15-18). The Call for 2023 Member-Organized Session and Workshop proposals will take place December 15 – January 15.
Virtual Format
Sessions and workshops will take place online, October 18-21, 2023, between 10:00am and 3:00pm EDT in 2-hour time-slots.
Unlike the previous virtual components, in 2023 all presentations will be given simultaneously during the online meeting (as opposed to recorded paper presentations that are watched in advance).
Sessions are designated for academic paper presentations. Virtual paper presentations (maximum of 20 minutes) will be given synchronously during the 2-hour online session. If there is a concern (i.e., internet connectivity) a recording can be played during the virtual session. Virtual sessions can accommodate a maximum of 5 presentations.
Workshops are designated by the word “workshop” in parentheses at the end of the title. Workshop presentations are a maximum of 10 minutes and do not count as a paper presentation. Workshops will be allotted a maximum of 1 time-slot on the program and can accommodate a maximum of 10 presentations.
As ASOR shifts to a fully synchronous format for the virtual component, the Program Committee may need to manage the size of the schedule and limit virtual sessions to a single two-hour time-lot (like workshops). This may especially be the case for those who choose to propose a member-organized session for both components. If a member-organized session or workshop is being proposed for both the virtual and the in-person components, the proposal should include a clear justification/purpose for holding it on both schedules.
If a session/workshop is being offered on both schedules, an individual may present the SAME paper or workshop presentation in-person and online (in the same session/workshop) and it will count as ONE program appearance.
