WORKS TO REVIEW FOR BASOR
Listed below are books that have been submitted to BASOR for review. Please send your resume and title of the books you would like to review to basorreviews@gmail.com with the subject “REQUEST TO REVIEW.” It is suggested that junior scholars attach a cv to their e-mail offer to review a volume, or provide a summary of their education, presentations, and publications. All who offer (via the aforementioned e-mail) to review a book must also send in that e-mail a preferred postal address (which we will use to send the volume to reviewers via means such as US Postal Office, FedEx, UPS, or DHL). We should like to emphasize that we anticipate we will sometimes have multiple scholars offering to review the same volume. In such cases, the editors will select the most suitable reviewer for the volume, based on a variety of academic factors.
Note also that (1) It will normally be necessary for potential reviewers already to have an earned doctorate in hand, although Ph.D. candidates who have successfully completed their comprehensive exams can sometimes be considered, at the discretion of the editors. (2) After receiving an offer from someone to review a volume, the editors or editorial board will normally take around three to six weeks before responding to the offer. Please be patient. (3) It will normally be necessary for reviewers to complete the review of a book within six months of receipt of the book, so that the review can appear in print within a reasonable time-frame after a book’s publication. Reviewers who do not complete the review within the required time-frame will be requested to return the volume so that it can be offered to a different reviewer. (4) Reviews are normally to be ca. 1500 to 2500 words long. (5) BASOR will publish some reviews in the print edition of BASOR, but some reviews may be published exclusively online. (6) Books will be removed from our list of available books, as they are commissioned, and books will be added to this list, as new volumes arrive.
