LEVANTINE CERAMICS PROJECT
WORKSHOPS (2019)
JUNE 20TH, 2019: Levantine Wares of the Islamic, Frankish, and Ottoman Periods
Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, Jerusalem
The Levantine Ceramics Project invite your participation in a workshop devoted to Levantine ceramic wares of the Islamic, Frankish, and Ottoman periods, to be held Thursday, June 20th, 2019 at the Albright Institute, in Jerusalem. Our goal is to build up the LCP’s data set of pottery of these later eras via descriptions and scientific analyses, and to add examples of specific vessels along with drawings and photographs.
Presentations will focus on wares that have been submitted to the LCP in advance of the workshop. The organizers will compile and circulate a list of wares that should be added to the LCP. Participants are encouraged to “adopt” one or more wares to add to the site; you may also add wares that are not on the list. You may submit as much information as you like, and in the workshop you may give more than one presentation. We ask that you submit data by April 30th, 2019.
The day will be organized in two parts. In the morning there will be presentations and discussions of wares that have already been submitted. In the afternoon participants will be able to add examples of vessels along with illustrations (people should bring a flash drive with vessel information and images).
