LeeAnn Barnes Gordon will begin her appointment at ASOR Manager of Programs and Events on September 16, 2013. LeeAnn replaces Kelley Herlihy who served as ASOR Director of Meetings and Events for five years, and who left ASOR in July. LeeAnn will be the primary office contact for support of the ASOR Annual Meeting and the Program Committee. Her e-mail address will be meetings@asor.org, and her office phone will be 617-353-6576. While LeeAnn is new to the ASOR staff, she is not new to ASOR. She actively participates in archaeology in Cyprus, is an ASOR member, and serves as a session chair at the ASOR Annual Meeting.
LeeAnn trained as an art conservator with a specialization in archaeological objects. She has worked for institutions and field projects of various sizes and types. Her most recent positions include the Sherman Fairchild Fellow in Objects Conservation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Conservator for the Athienou Archaeological Project in Cyprus. She currently co-chairs a session on Conservation and Site Preservation at the ASOR Annual Meeting.
LeeAnn received her B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from the University of Minnesota. Prior to graduate school, she worked as an archaeological technician for several cultural resource management firms and participated in excavations in the eastern Mediterranean. She earned her M.S. in Art Conservation from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation and held graduate internships at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan, the Agora Excavations of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, and at Doris Duke’s historic home, Shangri La, in Honolulu.
LeeAnn loves living in Boston for its vibrant academic community, abundance of cultural events, and fresh seafood. She enjoys cooking, running, crafting, listening to too much NPR, and spending time with family.
