By becoming an ASOR member, you join us in our mission to initiate, encourage, and support research into, and public understanding of, the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean, from the earliest times. Membership provides valuable benefits, and your dues help us foster original research, exploration, and archaeological fieldwork; encourage scholarship about Near Eastern and Mediterranean traditions and societies; uphold the highest academic standards in interdisciplinary research and teaching; and support efforts to protect, preserve, and present to the public the historic and cultural heritage of the Near Eastern and Mediterranean world.
Associate Membership – $43
Associate memberships are designed for Public Members whose professional expertise lies beyond the fields of Near Eastern and Mediterranean studies. These memberships are designed for anyone who wishes to be a part of ASOR.

Contributing Membership – $125
These membership are designed for Public Members who wish to receive all the benefits included in the Associate Membership and who wish to support ASOR through a gift. The annual dues ($125) include a contribution of $100, which may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Regular and retired memberships are designed for those who wish to present at the ASOR Annual Meeting, receive academic journals, and/or serve on editorial boards and academic committees. Regular and Retired Members also receive all of the benefits included in the Associate Membership.

*Early Career members are required to confirm that they have received a terminal degree in the past five years or earn a pre-tax gross income less than $65,000 US. This confirmation is required at the time of sign-up/renewal in the ASOR Portal.
**Graduate and Undergraduate members are required to upload proof of enrollment (copies of transcripts, class schedules, etc. that state active student status, graduation date, or the CURRENT semester date) while joining as a member/renewing a membership in the ASOR Portal.
***Are you a student outside of North America and joining ASOR membership for the FIRST time? Email the membership office to receive a discount code to save on an online new Student Membership (Undergraduate or Graduate). Proof of student status outside North America will be required for your membership to be be processed. NOT to be used for renewals.
Sustaining Membership – $270
Our highest level of individual membership, it is designed for Public and Academic Members who wish to support ASOR at a higher level and receive some exclusive benefits benefits available only to Sustaining Members and our donors who contribute $1,000 or more a year.
- Print delivery and/or online access to all four journals (choice of BASOR, NEA, and JCS for print delivery, MAARAV online only).
- No additional charge for print delivery outside U.S.
- Your choice (annually) of one past ASOR book, subject to availability. Non-U.S. addresses must pay shipping. Please e-mail us to request your book.
- A donation of $100, which may tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Membership Renewal Policy
Membership renewals extend the expiration date of your most recent membership if within a three month window of that last expiration date. Any missed publications during this period will be sent to a provided address or, in the case of online access, an extended access period will be provided through University Chicago Press. Anything beyond a three month window of the last expiration date will be reviewed with the member or treated as a “new” membership. Questions about our policy can be sent to membership@asor.org.
